Administration

Michaela Coffin-Smith - Principal
I am honored to serve as the principal of Century Alternative High School and Los Lunas Family School and to work alongside our students, families, staff, and community to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their goals.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Eastern New Mexico University. My educational career began in the classroom, where I spent ten years teaching students in grades 4–8. During that time, I taught all core content areas and developed a deep appreciation for the unique strengths, challenges, and potential of every learner. Working directly with students reinforced my belief that strong relationships, engaging instruction, and high expectations are essential components of student achievement. For the past five years, I have served in site administration at Valencia Middle School, most recently as principal.
As principal of Century Alternative High School and Los Lunas Family School, my vision is to ensure that every student has access to the support, opportunities, and pathways needed to achieve success both during and after high school. Our goals are to increase the graduation rate, strengthen student support systems, improve academic proficiency across all content areas, and expand opportunities that allow students to explore their interests and prepare for college, careers, military service, and the workforce. We are committed to providing students with meaningful choices, personalized learning experiences, and real-world opportunities that help them build successful futures.

Jennifer Edeal-LaLonde - Dean of Students
I was born and raised in Los Lunas and graduated from Los Lunas High School. I then attended the University of New Mexico where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. After teaching first grade for several years, I fell in love with teaching literacy, so I began my Master of Arts in Reading with an emphasis in Elementary Education through Grand Canyon University. I have taught all grade levels from 1st through 8th grade. I am currently in my 3rd year as the Dean of students at Century High School. Since starting this position, I have received a license in Administration. Although my years of teaching were in Elementary, I am thrilled to be working with the students at Century High School and can’t wait to see our students graduate and contribute to our city, county and state in a positive way. I am blessed to be able to have a small part in our student’s journey to graduation.
