Helping CHS Students

Hope Works, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing various support services to the homeless, has taken a unique approach to engage and empower local high school students. The organization recently collaborated with talented young individuals at Century High School to create their logo and design promotional products, fostering a sense of creativity, entrepreneurship, and community involvement.

These students are part of the Entrepreneurship Class at CHS. Recognizing the untapped potential and creativity of these students, Hope Works launched an initiative aimed to harness the artistic skills of these students to develop the organization's logo and other promotional materials. The program offered an opportunity for students to showcase their talents.

Under the guidance of their teacher, Julie Dutchover, the students submitted their logo designs, illustrating their interpretation of Hope Works' mission and values.

The response was overwhelming, with numerous innovative and thought-provoking designs. After a thorough review process, Hope Works selected several winning designs - all which captured the essence of Hope Works, incorporating elements of hope, unity, and progress. Hope Works will use the designs for t-shirts and other merchandise.

Hope Works' decision to collaborate with high school students for their logo and promotional products exemplifies their commitment to fostering creativity and community involvement. Through this unique initiative, the organization has not only received remarkable designs, but also created a lasting impact on the lives of the students involved. It serves as a testament to the power of art, mentorship, and the potential for positive change when organizations invest in the talents of local youth.

Impressed by the talent exhibited by these young artists, Hope Works took the initiative a step further. The organization has asked them to also design a mural for the organization. The student designs will be used to promote the organization's initiatives, raise awareness, and generate funds to support their community-driven efforts to help those in need.

From t-shirts and tote bags to keychains and stickers and jewelry, the students in the Entrepreneurship Class now proudly sell a range of their merchandise at art shows. The money raised from their sales goes directly back into the class, which teaches the students about design, how to run a business, including how to price their products to make a profit. The students also created the logo for their company.

If you are interested in learning more about the class or purchase items, the students will be selling their works of art at the Century High School Car Show on Saturday, March 2, 2024. It will take place at CHS (32 Sun Valley Dr., Los Lunas). Doors open at 8:30am.
